B.5 Project 2: Web application server

The next project StoreCompany undertakes is to implement a Web catalog. The Web catalog project can exploit the work done by the successful team from Project 1.

B.5.1 Changes needed

• WAS and WCS for Linux. WCS provides everything StoreCompany needs to set up an online catalog.

• Three new Linux images: one for development and test, two catalog Web servers.

B.5.2 Implementation

The Web server which StoreCompany uses is Apache. Once the Web business was started, a second IFL was immediately ordered to ensure that there would be no hardware single point of failure for the Linux images. The final implementation is shown in Figure B-4.
