Using Channel Strip Settings

Chains of multiple plug-ins (and their settings) can be saved and recalled as Channel Strip settings. This enables you to apply commonly used chains of effects in any song far more quickly than individually inserting each plug-in and its settings.

You used Channel Strip settings earlier in the book to bring up a software instrument that was coupled with a chain of effects. This time, you'll save the lead vocal effects chain as a Channel Strip setting for future use.

1.

Click the small arrow button next to the word Inserts on the Vox_lead channel.

The Channel Strip settings menu appears. As you can see in the lower half of the menu, there are many premade Channel Strip settings that can be used for a variety of effects processing.

2.

Choose "Save Channel Strip Setting as" from the menu.

A window opens with a file selector.

3.

Type I Was Raised Vox in the Save As field, and click the Save button.

This will save the signal chain to a folder reserved for track Channel Strip settings. The chain can be recalled on any Track Object channel.

NOTE

Channel Strip settings can be applied only to Audio Objects of like kind. This means that you cannot save a Channel Strip setting from a Track Object and recall it on a Bus Object.

TIP

Create and save a Channel Strip setting for each type of Audio Object (tracks, busses, auxiliaries, and Audio Instruments) that does not contain any inserted plug-ins, naming it #default. This will give you a quick way to reset the channel strips by removing all inserted plug-ins at once.

4.

Save the song with the name "09_I Was Raised_Finished.lso".
