About the Author

Jeff Duntemann's career as technology author/editor spans almost thirty years, since his first technical articles began appearing in 1974. After six years as programmer/analyst for Xerox Corporation, Jeff served as Technical Editor for Ziff-Davis'' PC Tech Journal, and founding editor of Borland International's Turbo Technix. He is the sole author of nine books on computer technology and has collaborated with others on almost twenty more. His book Assembly Language Step By Step has been in print continuously since 1989 and is probably the best-selling title on Intel assembly language ever. He wrote the 'Structured Programming' column at Dr. Dobb's Journal for four years. His books and magazine articles have won several awards from the Society for Technical Communication and the Arizona Book Publishing Association, including the STC's coveted Distinguished Technical Communication award, presented to him in 1993.

Jeff co-founded The Coriolis Group in 1989 with publishing entrepreneur Keith Weiskamp, and edited the firm's journal PC Techniques (later Visual Developer) throughout its ten-year life. Most recently, Jeff helped establish Paraglyph Press, at which he now holds the position of Editor at Large. He is an accomplished teacher and public speaker, and has given numerous presentations on the technology industry at conferences and conventions in the US, Canada, and the U.K.

At home, Jeff writes science fiction, tinkers with electronics, robotics, amateur radio (as K7JPD) and (of course) wireless networking.
