Crash your Solaris 1 system

Let's crash a Solaris 1 system now. (Isn't this fun!?)

Figure 5-2 How to crash a Solaris 1 system
 # adb -k -w /vmunix /dev/mem physmem ff4 rootdir/X rootdir: rootdir: ff00d5e0 rootdir/W 0 rootdir: 0xff00d5e0 = 0x0 $q #

As your system crashes and reboots, watch the messages that appear on the system console. Once the system is up and running again, log in and take a look at your savecore directory. You should see a new set of system crash dump savecore files. If not, go back to Chapter 3 and read about savecore to see what steps you may have missed.

If you now have system crash dump savecore files, Congratulations!

Let's move on now to the next chapter where we start the analysis.
