After your meeting with your boss, follow up with a memo confirming your discussion (this will help if your boss must justify the salary increase through other channels). Start with a thank you for your boss’s time and consideration, and reiterate your accomplishments, referring to the list you prepared. (Attach another copy; this one goes in your personnel file.) If you and your boss have agreed on an effective date for your increase, mention it in your memo. If not, request one (and schedule a follow-up to make sure it is done).
