Running Scripts

You run a script either from the Script toolbar or the File menu. To run a Script from the Script toolbar, first toggle the toolbar on with V iew > Too l bars > S cript (if it isn't displayed already). Then select the script you want from the drop-down list, and click the Run Selected Script button just to the right of the drop-down list.

Scripts listed in the drop-down list on the Script toolbar are those stored in the folders listed in your Scripts - Restricted and Scripts - Trusted file locations preferences, specified on the File Locations dialog box. To access this dialog box, go to F ile > Pre f erences > File L ocations.

If you want to select a script that isn't in the drop-down list, click the Run Script button on the Script toolbar, navigate to the folder that contains the script you want, select the script, and click Open .

If you have the Interactive Playback toggle on, then by default any command in the script that has settings will open its dialog box to allow you to choose the settings you want. If you have the Interactive Playback toggle off, then by default all commands will run silently, without displaying their dialog boxes. (As you'll see later in this chapter, you can adjust a script so that it ignores the Interactive Playback setting.)
