MilkShape 3D is a low-polygon modeler that was initially designed for the creation of Half-Life models by Mete Ciragan. During the development of the product, Ciragan has added many file formats to the package, including most common game formats.
MilkShape Cape 3D offers a full set of basic modeling operations such as select, move, rotate, scale, extrude, and turn edge, to name a few, and allows low-level editing with the Vertex and Face tool. MilkShape also includes a set of primitives such as spheres, boxes, and cylinders.
The most important feature that MilkShape provides is the capability to do skeletal animation. This allows you to export to morph target animations like those offered by the Quake model formats or to export to skeletal animations like Half-Life or Genesis3d. For our gaming project, we’ll use the Half-Life model format because it offers one of the easiest and most powerful game formats.
