Once again, it has been an honor and a privilege to work with such a fine publishing company. Charles River Media’s goal continues to mirror mine: provide the most useful certification test preparation books available.

Thank you to Darren Toback for his contribution to this book. Darren’s security-related knowledge and experience have assisted in development of this powerful Security+ exam study resource.

Thank you to coworker and ace Web developer Mark Porter for the design of the superb testing software package included with the CD-ROM that accompanies this book. Its design and ease of use displays the many talents of a great software developer.

Special thanks go to Posse Bob, Scott Gaertner, and Doug Morgan for protecting a very important corporate network infrastructure from external malicious influences.

Thanks to Jonathan Thatcher, Kris Madura, and CompTIA for involving me with Security+ Web conferences. The updates as to the development of the Security+ exam assisted with a structured approach in the creation of this fine study tool.

Thank you to Analin Alvarado, Michael Suhrbier, Julie Peirce, Brian King, Mr. Bear, Chris Gair, Micah Huston, Neil Strawbridge, Bill Burch, Shane Lewis, and Jim Morris for their assistance and support throughout this project. Without them, the creation of this book would not have been possible.

To Amanda Hutchinson, Nancy and Ken Crayton, Carol and David Brodie Howard, Amy Toback—thank you for your patience, support, and steadfast love.

Finally, thank you to my mentor and hero for the last two years, Steve Bleile. It has been an honor and a privilege to learn from someone of your caliber and nature. You are truly the most dedicated person I have ever met.
