Troubleshooting

Spreadsheet Is Read-Only

graphics/troubleshooting_icon.jpg

I am trying to save the Expenses.xls file, but I get an error telling me that it's read-only.

Make sure that you copied the file from the CD to your hard drive. You will also likely have to turn off the read-only attribute for the file because it was copied from a CD. Right-click the file and select Properties from the menu. Uncheck the Read-only check box and click OK.

Site Settings Is Disabled

I am trying to create a new database connection, but the Site Settings option is disabled.

The Site Settings menu option is only available if you have a Web site open. Make sure that you have opened a Web site and not just a Web page.

To open a Web site, select File, Open Site and enter the URL of the Web site. Click the Open button to open the Web site.

Cannot Insert Database Results

I am trying to insert Database Results, but the Results menu option is not enabled.

The Database Results feature in FrontPage relies on Active Server Pages, or ASP. If Active Server Pages are not enabled in your Authoring options, the Results menu item will be disabled.

Select Tools, Page Options and click the Authoring tab. Make sure that the Active Server Pages check box is checked and click OK.

Cannot Insert Office Spreadsheet Web Component

I'm trying to insert an Office Spreadsheet Web Component, but the Spreadsheets and Charts option is turned off and I can't select it.

If the Spreadsheets and Charts option is not available, it is because the Office Web Components are not installed. Run the FrontPage 2003 setup in Add/Remove Programs and click the plus sign next to the Office Shared Features section. Make sure that Office Web Components is set to Run from My Computer.
