Chapter 6. Configuration, Security, and Architecture

Until this point, this book's primary consideration has been the general nature and operation of email systems and ways to tune the machines on which sendmail and other email software run. This chapter examines the configuration of sendmail itself, the trade-offs involved in weighing performance versus email security, and overall email service architecture. Service architecture involves strategies for making several email servers running sendmail cooperate effectively to improve the overall performance of the entire email system.
