New Features in Oracle Database 10g Release 2

Oracle Database 10g Release 2 promises to improve on the new direction in performance management set by the first release. For example, more statistics are now collected and analyzed in the advisors. We will deal with specifics in subsequent chapters; let us just mention that 48 new dynamic performance views and 60 new Wait events have been added in Oracle Database 10g Release 2 as compared to the previous release. This includes intriguing views named V$PROCESS_MEMORY and V$PROCESS_MEMORY_DETAIL for monitoring and viewing process memory details as well as V$ASM_DISK_STAT and V$ASM_DISKGROUP_STAT for monitoring ASM disks and disk groups.
