Installing Ganglia on the Cluster Node Manager


With the required packages installed, you're ready to install Ganglia on the cluster node manager.

Download the latest Ganglia software RPM packages from the Ganglia website, and install them using the standard RPM commands. Here is the list of RPM package names before and after Ganglia release 3.0:

ganglia-gmetad

ganglia-monitor-core-gmond

ganglia-gmond

ganglia-webfrontend

ganglia-web

ganglia-monitor-core-lib

ganglia-devel

gexec and authd

ganglia-gexec-client

On the cluster node manager, you need to install ganglia-gmetad, ganglia-gmond, ganglia-web, ganglia-devel, and (optionally) ganglia-gexec-client.

Note 

You may have to use --nodeps when installing to force the ganglia-web RPM to ignore dependencies, because the RPM database will have no record of the RRDtool or PHP software if you installed RRDtool and PHP from source.

If you compiled gmond from source instead of loading it from RPM, you must use the --enable-gexec flag to support gexec.
