Resolving Overallocations by Replacing or Adding Resources

     

Leveling delay and redistributing work aren't the only means at your disposal for resolving overallocations. You can also resolve overallocations by replacing resources on a project, or by adding additional resources.

Resolving an Overallocation by Replacing Resources

graphics/one_icon.jpg In the upper pane, select the overallocated resource to show the tasks to which he is assigned.

graphics/two_icon.jpg Select the task on which you will replace the resource.

graphics/three_icon.jpg Click the Assign Resources toolbar button.

graphics/four_icon.jpg Select the resource to be replaced .

graphics/five_icon.jpg Click Replace.

graphics/six_icon.jpg Select the new resource.

graphics/seven_icon.jpg Click OK.

graphics/eight_icon.jpg The overallocation is resolved.

Resolving an Overallocation by Adding Additional Resources

graphics/one_icon.jpg Select the overallocated resource.

graphics/two_icon.jpg Select the tasks to which you want to add resources.

graphics/three_icon.jpg Click the Assign Resources toolbar button.

graphics/four_icon.jpg Select the additional resource(s).

graphics/five_icon.jpg Click the Assign button.

graphics/six_icon.jpg Edit the Assignment Units for each resource to 50%.

graphics/seven_icon.jpg Click Close. The overallocation is resolved.

graphics/eight_icon.jpg Each resource is now assigned four hours per day on each of the two tasks (50%).
