Chapter 8. Special Effects Using Channels

Well, I've been saving the best for last. Okay, it's not necessarily the best, but it is definitely the last. Well, for some of you this chapter will be the best, because you're a connoisseur of special effects, an aficionado of flair, a pundit of pixels, if you will. This is the kind of stuff that makes your heart beat faster. You long for that quintessential moment when all your pixels come together to create the uncreatable, to conceive the unconceivable, to become the unbecomable (the unbecomable?). This is why you bought (shoplifted) Photoshop in the first place. It's not for fine-tuning color or making a hair mask that leaves every little insignificant strand in place. That's not you. You're a rebel. Yes, yes, you're a…a… pilot of a Rebel Alliance X-Wing based out of Echo Base on the planet Hoth. Yes, that's you. No, you're not just a pilot. You're Red Leader and you were there at the Battle of Endor, and even though it was actually an Imperial trap, you didn't fall for it. Why? I have no idea. Maybe it's because while everybody else was masking and fine-tuning their colors with channels, you were watching that episode on DVD. With your cat.
