GarageBand 2: PRINTING YOUR SCORE

As amazing as the Musical Notation feature of GarageBand 2 is, the one thing it doesn't do is let you print it out. I know, it doesn't make sense. Don't get me started. But there is a bit of a workaround, if you don't mind jumping through a few flaming hoops (okay, they're not flaming, but non-flaming-hoop references don't sell books). Here's what to do: First, record a track by clicking on the red Record button, then when the track is complete, press Command-E to make the Editor visible. Now, click the tiny musical note button on the bottom-left side of the Editor to view the musical notation of your recorded track, which will appear to the right side of the Editor. Now, press Control-Command-Shift-4 once, and your cursor will turn into a crosshair. Drag this cursor over the visible part of your musical notation, then release the mouse (you should hear the default screen capture camera-click sound). Now launch Preview. Go to Preview's File menu and choose New From Clipboard. This creates a new document with the contents of your screen capture (your musical score). Now, you can print this snippet, and continue this process (of screen capturing and pasting into Preview) for the rest of your song. Hey, I never said it was an elegant solution. I said it was a workaround.
