7.8 Further Reading

For readers who are not familiar with programming using the Java GUI, any number of good books are available on the subject (see, for example, [VAN01] or [HOR02]). A trip to the local book store or visiting a Web bookseller will turn up many good books on GUI programming in Java. For more information on animation, most books on OOP (such as [BUD00]) include sections on animation. For readers who are interested in problems associated with using GUI threads, the article by Kann [KAN01] looks at some of the problems. For more information about the Java Event Model, and Java Beans in general, the Java Beans Specification [SUN96] is probably the best source. Readers who want more specific information should consult, for example, the books by Englander [ENG97] or van der Veer [VAN97]. Information on the Java AWT and Java Collection classes is available at the Sun Web site [SUN02c].
