In this chapter you’ve learned about two of the most useful troubleshooting and learning tools you will have at your disposal through SMS: status messages and log files. Although status messages will provide you with most of the information you will need to successfully monitor and troubleshoot SMS component activity, the log files, when enabled, will give you that extra level of granularity that can so often provide the elusive bit of data needed to pull all the pieces of a puzzle together.

In Chapter 6, “System Performance and Network Analysis,” we’ll continue our exploration of troubleshooting and analysis tools as we discuss System Monitor, Network Trace, and Network Monitor.
