You'll get the best curves in Fireworks if you use a Soft Rounded stroke (Basic, Soft Rounded). The Soft Rounded stroke adds more pixels to smooth the edge of a shape than does the anti-aliasing alone. Exporting animation settings to Flash I set frame delay and looping settings on an animation I created in Fireworks. Will they be exported to Flash? No. Frame delay and looping settings apply only if you are exporting your animation as an Animated GIF. These settings are discarded when you export to Flash SWF. Optimization and Selective JPEG Compression I keep trying to use the Smoothing optimization setting on a masked object, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Certain optimization settings such as Smoothing can be used only outside a masked area. Anything inside the masked area is off limits. Redraw your mask so the area you want to optimize with Smoothing is outside the mask. Adobe GoLive and Fireworks I'm more comfortable using Adobe's GoLive instead of Dreamweaver, but want to use Fireworks to design my Web pages. I'm having problems getting my Fireworks pop-up menus to work in GoLive. Although GoLive does not recognize pop-up menus created in Fireworks, your menus should still work in a Web browser. When exporting the pop-up menus for use in GoLive, don't use the GoLive style; chooose Generic instead. Fireworks and Photoshop Filters On earlier versions of Fireworks and Photoshop, I could use most of Photoshop's filters in Fireworks. That doesn't seem to work anymore. What happened ? Because of the ever-increasing competition between Macromedia and Adobe, Adobe decided to block its filters from being used in Fireworks. Fireworks can still use Photoshop 5.5 and earlier filters. Otherwise, your best bet is to search online for third-party developers to find a filter that matches the Adobe filter you want to use. |
