Chapter 9. Preparing Content for Captivate

Though Captivate does quite a job of preparing content for playback using a wide assortment of buttons and controllers, there will be occasions where you will have to prepare your own content for the presentation. This could involve creating a custom controller or button using Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004, or adding a Captivate demonstration to a PowerPoint presentation rather than adding a PowerPoint slide to Captivate. You may have been handed an EPS version of a corporate logo and been asked to add it to all of the slides in the movie. It is at this point that the value of the other tools in the Macromedia MX Studio really becomes apparent.

This chapter covers how to:

  • Create a custom playback controller in Fireworks.

  • Create a three-state button in Fireworks for use in Captivate.

  • Use Macromedia Freehand MX and Fireworks MX 2004 to prepare a logo for a Captivate movie.

  • Use Adobe Illustrator CS and Freehand MX to create Flash animations without knowing Flash MX Professional 2004.

    Tip

    • Many of the techniques demonstrated in this chapter can be reproduced easily in other imaging or drawing applications. The key is the ability to output the work in a format that Captivate recognizes.

  • Make your Captivate movie accessible to those with disabilities.
