Logging Out of the Fedora Core 4 Desktop

When you are done using your computer system, you must log out of the Linux desktop before you can shut down. To log out, choose Desktop, Log Out. A dialog box with several options is presented, as shown in Figure 4.9. The default selection, Log Out, returns you to the login prompt. Any running applications are automatically closed for you.

Figure 4.9. Logging out of the Fedora Core 4 desktop environment. If you check the Save Current Setup box, your application windows will be restored the next time you log in.

Checking the Save Current Setup option causes Linux to remember the positions of your currently running application windows and to restore them when you next log in. This dialog box also offers two additional options: Click Shut Down to shut Linux down, or choose Restart the Computer to shut Linux down and restart the system.
