A1:

You can access desktop preferences by choosing Desktop, Preferences, and then selecting the item that you want to change.

A2:

A gradient is a gradual blending from one color to another color. To enable a gradient, disable the use of wallpaper images and then select your colors and gradient from the Desktop Background Preferences dialog box.

A3:

Right-click the icon you want to move and choose Move from the context menu.

A4:

Right-click the icon you want to remove and choose Remove from the context menu.

Activities

  1. Explore some of the items on the Preferences menu that we didn't discuss. See what the settings do.

  2. Change the appearance and colors of your desktop applications and wallpaper to suit your tastes.

  3. Add a few application icons to your menubar and arrange them as you prefer them to appear.
