Apt is a program that enables you to install software applications ending with the file extension .DEB. When you install a program, Apt looks to its database to grab any files or upgrades that need to be added to the package to make the program work properly.
Click on the Launch button . The Launch menu will appear.
Click on Programs . A submenu will appear.
Click on Utilities . Another submenu will appear.
Click on Console . The Console window will appear.
Type apt-get install package.deb . Replace package.deb with the actual name of the file you are trying to install.
Press Enter . This will install your application and resolve and download any dependent packages.
Note | Many Linux programs come with their own special installation instructions. It is a good idea to follow the program's Install instructions, as they are best suited for that program. |
