Regularly Scheduled Check-up


How often a company assesses its business/technology alignment depends on the individual nature of the organization. Certainly, it would be impractical to stop and assess the level of alignment maturity before the start or end of every project. However, the assessment frequency could occur on an annual schedule, or could even match the company's strategic planning cycles. It may be necessary to conduct alignment checks on a more frequent basis when there is a significant degree of misalignment and then the company could shift to longer intervals between checks once the highest level of alignment maturity has been attained. Anytime corrective steps are determined and agreed upon pursuant to an assessment, these should be mapped against current/planned strategies, organizational/operational capabilities, and environmental conditions so that actions are not formulated and executed in a vacuum . Alignment is not a one-time or isolated event ”it should be part and parcel of the company's strategy and operations.
