Chapter 2. Creating and Managing Images

One of the first tasks you'll do in Photoshop Elements is set up your image. This involves creating a new file (or importing a photo or image from a digital camera, camcorder, or scanner), setting its dimensions and size, and arranging it on your desktop in a way that works best for you. Photoshop Elements might seem a little overwhelming at first, presenting you with so many settings choices as you begin working on an image. But a basic understanding of the principles of resolution and print size will prove helpful in the long run.

This chapter shows you how to get your images into Photoshop Elements, and offers some basic guidelines on adjusting image size and resolution, depending on whether you want to print, email, or post to the Web. You'll also learn the different methods for viewing additional information about your images.
