Implementing a business model sounds like a relatively simple concept. J2EE 1.3 and the Web Services capabilities provided by WebSphere Application Server, version 5.0 provide many of the basics necessary to begin this kind of task. This chapter has introduced and described some additional concepts and capabilities supported by the WAS that can be used to more productively implement business models. Specifically, we have gone through a few key points in this chapter:
A business model has a static element, which is represented by a set of entities
A business model has a process element
The process model element can benefit from advanced programming concepts described in this chapter as flow-based choreography, including compensation
Business rules assist us in capturing and codifying certain kinds of business processes, especially those that are dynamic in nature
