Section 4.12. What s Next?

4.12 What's Next ?

By now, we have seen the basic programming components of the Java programming language. You are able to make simple but realistic programs using many of the same programming constructs you are used to using in ColdFusion. Perhaps the only significant difference so far has been that you are writing programs instead of Web applications. Many of the tools we have used are the same ” loops , conditional logic, and so forth.

In the next chapter we will look at object-oriented programming and design principles and notation. This will allow us to begin planning OOP projects and start us really thinking in terms of objects. Now we will start to see stark distinctions between what OOP programming in Java means and how you may be used to writing ColdFusion applications. If you are chiefly used to writing ColdFusion, this stage can require a paradigm shift in how you think about making applications.
