Chapter 9. Defining Fields


Before you can start adding information to a database, you need to create the fields that will contain the information. Creating the fields is a two-step process: you define the fields by giving them names and then set options for what kind of data can be added to those fields. Controlling the appearance of your database is covered separately in Creating Layouts starting on page 143.
