Enable Transactions across Multiple Domains

Enable Transactions across Multiple Domains

In WebLogic server 7.0 and above it is possible to have transactions that exist in multiple domains. However, in order for this to work, you must create a single security credential that exists in all the target domains.

The following steps should be performed on each of the participating domains.

  1. Access the Administration console.

  2. In the left pane, click the name of the domain you wish to work on.

  3. In the right pane, click the Security tab (which should have been displayed as a result of your actions in step 2), then click the Advanced tab.

  4. Uncheck the Enable Generated Credential control. Click "Apply."

  5. Locate the "Change Text" link next to the Credential control. Click it.

  6. Type in the new credential, then confirm it. This credential will need to be the same for each affected domain, so make a note of it for later reference. If WebLogic 6.x servers will participate in the distributed transactions, you will need to use the system password from the WebLogic 6.x server as your credential.

  7. Restart this server.

  8. Repeat this process for each domain that will be using interdomain transactions. Make sure that you use the same credential for each domain.
