In Chapter 8 you used the Spider Audio Merger & Splitter to perform some advanced audio routing. The Spider CV Merger & Splitter works exactly the same way, but with CV control instead of audio. In this section you will learn how to expand the CV routing possibilities with the Spider to create some imaginative effects.
Perhaps one of the most obvious uses of the Spider CV is to split the CV control to several devices.
Starting with an empty rack, load the necessary devices. First up is the Spider.
Next load the SubTractor.
Now you will load two effect devices: the CF-101 Chorus/ Flanger and the PH-90 Phaser.
Next you need to make all the connections.
Next you'll use the Spider to let several device parameters control just one other parameter. You'll make several devices control the LFO of a CF-101.
Start this exercise with an empty rack. Using the Create menu, add the following devices to the rack in the order in which they appear:
Mixer 14:2
Spider CV Merger & Splitter
SubTractor Analog Synthesizer
Mastr m Graintable Synthesizer
CF-101 Chorus/Flanger
Now that all the devices are loaded you can make the connections.
This spacey effect is created by the LFO 1 on the SubTractor and the Mod A on the Malstr m altering the CF-101's Delay setting.
