By and large, this book is for Mortal Usersnonprogrammers. And this book is also finite. So we have not provided extensive coverage of writing macros.

However, this appendix does give you a start in the right direction. What you get is:

• Pointers on where to get more information, in the next section.

• A brief introduction to macros.

• An introduction to the macro writing environment and some troubleshooting and tips.

Excel macros

OpenOffice.org and StarOffice can't open Excel macros. This is because Microsoft has a proprietary language that is not shared with Sun or the open source community. Excel macros need to be rewritten if you want that functionality.
