Finding Macros and Macro Information

The folks in OpenOffice.org do a great job of providing macros. See the following, which is by no means all inclusive:

  • The basic resource is the programmers' tutorial at http://api.openoffice.org/basic/man/tutorial/tutorial.pdf. This is for Star Office 5.2, but still applicable .

  • You can get the whole API (the grammarhow to write macros) from www.openoffice.org. Sign up for developer and user mailing lists on www.openoffice.org. Specifically, see:

    • The specific API, which you might not find entirely useful: http://api.openoffice.org/common/ref/com/sun/star/module-ix.html

  • Developers should take a look at the developers' manual:

  • Andrew Brown's Useful Macros site is at http://www.darwinwars.com/lunatic/ bugs /oo_macros.html.

  • Help and how tos can be found at http://home.nikocity.de/sysentw/FAQ/SO-FAQ_English_Version/Answers/answers_9.html.

  • You can find a growing collection of macros and templates at www.ooextras.org.

  • Go to the mailing list page http://www.openoffice.org/mail_list.html and search the users and developers mailing list archives for "macro" and other keywords. If you can't find what you want, sign up for the list you want (probably users, possibly developers) and ask your question.

In addition, check out the help. There's an example macro for every function.
