Page Setup

Note

You can create the effect of a multi-page document in Draw using multiple slides; you also can have multiple layers within the same slide. See Inserting a New Empty Slide on page 671 and Using Layers on page 658 for more information.

Basic Page Setup

You can control the background color and orientation of each slide.

  • To control the background of a Draw document, choose Format > Page, then click the Background tab.

  • To specify whether a document is portrait or landscape orientation, choose Format > Page, then click the Page tab. (This affects all slides in the document, if there is more than one.)

When you change orientation, the margins often get kerflummoxed and the top margin ends up, for example, 25 inches down from the top. Be sure to check the margins before you click OK (you'll get a warning anyway if the margins are out of range). In addition, check to make sure the paper format is correct; stay away from User, since it can cause a variety of problems.

Page setup is similar to that of Impress. See Figure 7-42 on page 234 and Specifying Portrait or Landscape Orientation on page 83 for more information on these Page Setup options.

Inserting Page, Date, Time, and Filename Fields

Choose Insert > Field to add a page, date, time, or filename field. Add the field in Slide mode if you want it on only one slide, or in background mode if you want it on all slides. See also header and footer information in Creating Slide Handouts on page 727.
