Chapter 18. Managing Configurations in Different Development Models

Chapter 18. Managing Configurations in Different Development Models

Development and maintenance of a product may be organized in one project or a number of projects under different management during a product's lifetime. Each subproduct may follow its own development modelthe software subproduct may follow an iterative development model while the hardware subproduct follows a waterfall model. The development model always coexists with other factors, such as the product type or special conditions. This, of course, adds to the complexity.

It's important to separate the valid factors for a project or a product, define how each factor is to be handled independently, and then define how the combination of factors should be handled. This chapter discusses different development models and development philosophies, ordered alphabetically .
