In this chapter, you learned about reporting systems in SAP R/3, their capabilities, and their limitations. Then you learned how SAP R/3 customers attempted to use SAP R/3 technologies to build a separate data warehousing environment before SAP developed the SAP BW product.

This chapter also provided you with the basic concepts of the SAP BW product, its architecture, and its components. By now you should also have some understanding of how information flows when users access data from SAP BW for analysis and how data is analyzed in SAP BW.
