SAP offers four SAP BW training courses at its training centers worldwide.

Note that additional courses may be added in the near future. Check http://www.sap.com/bw for the latest schedule.

SAP offers three levels of SAP BW training sessions, as shown in Figure A-1. Level 1 is an introductory SAP BW training session. Level 2 is for subject-matter experts to learn SAP R/3 application modules. Level 2 sessions are SAP standards training courses on application modules in SAP R/3 and required for business content experts and SAP BW data extractor developers. Level 3 courses are specific to SAP BW application developers, support, and administration staff.

BW200: Business Information Warehouse (BW)-Overview

Course Description

Target Audience

Project managers working in Controlling; IT managers; anybody interested in data warehousing

Prerequisites

Course Goals

Participants get a technical and functional overview of the SAP Business InformationWarehouse.

They gain a first impression of the way the SAP Business Information Warehouse works, its functions, and its use.

BW 205: Business Information Warehouse (BW)-Analysis

Course Goals

Participants gain BW knowledge to ensure the successful implementation use of the BW analysis tools.

Course Content

Introduction to working with the SAP BW analysis tools: Overview of the basic data warehousing concepts and the SAP BW architecture; Overview of the basic query navigation functions; Creating reports with the Query Builder of the Business Explorer Analyzer. Organizing queries in InfoCatalogs using the Business Explorer Browser

This course is a prerequisite for the course BW210 Business InformationWarehouse-System Configuration.

BW 210: Business Information Warehouse (BW)-System Configuration

Course Description

3 Days

Target Audience

Project team members with basic knowledge of data warehousing and SAP R/3 experience

Prerequisites

Essential:
Basic knowledge of data warehousing

Recommended:
Experience of the subject matter covered by Level 2 and Level 3 courses for at least one SAP R/3 application

Course Goals

Participants gain the detailed BW knowledge they need to be able to implement and administer successfully a heterogeneous BW landscape.

Course Content

Overview of the basic concepts and architecture of the SAP Business Information Warehouse

Hands-on experience of working with the SAP BW tools, focusing on BW data modeling and ETL (Extraction, Transformation, Loading of Data)

Introduction to the functions of the BW Metadata repository

Notes

BW210 (Business Information Warehouse (BW)-System Configuration) is the first in a whole series of BW courses that should enable the participants to understand the complex of themes behind SAP BW.

If they are primarily interested in the analysis functions of the SAP BW, they may wish to start by attending the one-day course BW200 (Business Information Warehouse [BW]-Overview), and then attend the course

BW220: Business Info. Warehouse (BW)-SAP OLTP Extraction

Course Description

SAP BW application developers

Prerequisites

Essential:
Basic knowledge and experience of the subject matter covered by Level 2 and Level 3 training courses for at least one SAP R/3 application

Knowledge of the subject matter covered by BW210 dealing with the BW Administrator Workbench

Recommended:
Knowledge of R/3 Basis: Data Dictionary and ABAP/4 Programming

Course Goals

Participants gain detailed knowledge of the various possibilities for extracting data in an R/3 OLTP system.

Course Content

Participants gain a better understanding of various extraction mechanisms within the SAP R/3 OLTP

Overview of the basic concepts of OLTP extraction

Implementing individual extraction techniques using function enhancements

Hands-on experience of working with the SAP BW tools, focusing on BW data modeling and ETL (Extraction, Transformation, Loading of Data)

Transferring CO-PA data from SAP R/3 into SAP

Examples from other applications

D20BW: Business Information Warehouse (BW)-Delta with Release 2.0

Course Description

Target Audience

Project team members with extensive knowledge of BW Release 1.2B and appropriate SAP R/3 experience

Prerequisites

This course explains the changes made for BW Release 2.0 only, and is therefore completely unsuitable for people who are not familiar with the SAP BW.

Course Goals

Participants gain detailed knowledge of the changes made for BW Release 2.0.

Course Content

An explanation of changes made in the following areas: General-Geographical Information Systems; InfoCube download; Transport Wizard

SAP BW Business Explorer-Web Reporting; Exception Reporting; Multi Cube query
