Managing an Existing Data Connection

Once you've created a working Dreamweaver MX data connection, you may find you need to test the data connection again. To do so, open a page from your website, open the Database window, right-click on a connection, and choose Test. If the test fails, or for many other reasons, you might find you need to alter the settings of the data connection. To edit a data connection, open a page from your website, open the Database window, right-click a connection, and then choose Edit Connection from the drop-down menu to open the Data Connection dialog box. You can alter every setting but the name of the data connection.

If you want to change the name of a data connection, your best bet is to duplicate the data connection and correctly name the duplicate. To duplicate a data connection, open a page from your website, right-click the data connection in the Database window, and choose Duplicate to open the Data Connection dialog box. This dialog box displays the settings of the original data connection and lets you name the duplicate data connection.

To delete a data connection, you have several options. First, open a page from your website, and select a data connection in the Database window. To delete, you can click the minus (-) button, press the Delete key, or right-click the data connection and choose Delete.
