Other Books

Though the authors would naturally like to think that the book you've got in your hands is all you'll ever need to become a Dreamweaver expert, we recognize that you might just want a bit more information after you've completely devoured this book. There are approximately a million different Dreamweaver books on the market; here are some of the books we think are the best.

Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 Advanced for Windows and Macintosh: Visual QuickPro Guide

Written by Lucinda Dykes and also published by Peachpit Press, this book covers many of the aspects of Dreamweaver that aren't covered in the book you have in your hands. You'll find information on working with servers, setting up database connections, using SQL, and building database- backed Web sites with dynamic pages. You'll also find information on Dreamweaver 8's new XML and XSLT features.

Dreamweaver MX 2004 Killer Tips

Written by Joseph Lowery and Angela C. Buraglia for New Riders, this book delivers on the promise in its name , with hundreds of really great tips and tricks. Heck, you can call them killer tips! This book is not being updated for Dreamweaver 8 (because the authors didn't believe that there were enough great new hidden features in Dreamweaver 8 to warrant a new edition), but the existing edition is almost entirely still applicable to Dreamweaver 8, and is definitely worth your hard-earned dollars. Or lira. Or whatever.

Dreamweaver 8 Bible

Joseph Lowery is well known in the Dreamweaver community, and this massive Dreamweaver reference, published by Wiley, shows why. At a whopping 1,300 pages, we think this is perhaps the best comprehensive Dreamweaver reference book available.

Build Your Own Standards Compliant Website Using Dreamweaver 8

As we have mentioned again and again in the preceding pages, compliance with Web standards is important, and this book by Rachel Andrew, published by SitePoint, drills you in creating flexible, easy-to-maintain Web sites using strict XHTML and CSS with Dreamweaver 8. The author is the director of a Web solutions company in the U.K., and she is a member of the Web Standards Project, spearheading that organization's Dreamweaver Task Force (http://www.webstandards.org/act/campaign/dwtf/), which worked with Macromedia to improve Dreamweaver's standards compliance.
