Copying Slides

 < Day Day Up >

There are two ways to duplicate slides in Keynote. Why might you want to duplicate a slide? The most common reason is that you have added some custom elements to a slide—such as a graphic or a custom text box—that you want to appear on a few slides, but that isn't worth saving as a new master slide.

You can duplicate slides in either the Navigator or Outline View. The two methods are using the Duplicate command, or dragging.

To duplicate slides

1.
Select the slide that you want to copy.

2.
Choose Edit > Duplicate.

or

Press .

or

Control-click on the slide (or if you have a multiple-button mouse, right-click) to bring up the contextual menu, then choose Duplicate.

The new slide appears. You can now add text or graphics to the new slide.

To duplicate slides by dragging

1.
Select the slide that you want to copy.

2.
Hold down the Option key, click on the slide, and drag the slide to another location in the Navigator or Outline View.

A blue line will appear to show you where the slide will end up.

3.
Release the mouse button.

The new slide appears in the list.

Tip

  • You can also duplicate slides by cutting or copying and pasting slides in the Slide Navigator.
