Grouping Slides

 < Day Day Up >

When you're in Navigation View, Keynote allows you to organize your presentation by indenting related slides. Indenting slides in the Slide Navigator doesn't change the final presentation. It's a tool that helps you organize large sets of slides.

Once you have grouped related slides together, you can show or hide groups to make it easier for you to work with and organize the presentation.

To group slides

1.
Make sure that you are in Navigator View by choosing View > Navigator.

2.
Select a slide that you wish to indent.

3.
Press Tab.

or

Drag the slide to the right.

The slide is indented, and a disclosure triangle appears next to the slide above the indented slide ( Figure 2.13 ).

Figure 2.13. Once you've indented a slide, the slide above it shows a disclosure triangle, allowing you to hide or show the indented slides.

4.
Repeat as necessary until you have indented all the slides that you want.

To hide and show slide groups

  • Double-click on the first slide in the group (the one that has the disclosure triangle) to hide a group of slides, as shown in Figure 2.14 . Double-click the slide again to show the slides in the group.

Figure 2.14. You can see by the slide numbers that many slides are hidden here (slides 5 through 15, in fact).

Tips

  • If you click next to a slide in the Slide Navigator, and then drag, you can select multiple slides. You can also select multiple slides by clicking on the first slide that you wish to select, holding down the Shift key, and clicking the last slide in the selection. And while you're at it, you can select discontiguous slides by selecting the first slide, holding down the Com mand key, and then selecting subsequent slides.

  • When multiple slides are selected, pressing the Tab key indents all the slides at once.

  • You can outdent slides (i.e., move slides to the left) by selecting the slides in the Slide Navigator and pressing . Of course, you can also select a slide and drag it to the left.
