Customizing Titles, Body Text, and Slide Numbers

Title text boxes, body text boxes, and slide number text boxes can be turned on or off in the Appearance tab of the Master Slide Inspector. The default style for text boxes containing body text, titles, or slide numbers gets defined on the master slide where the text box appears. To set those style defaults, you turn the items on, and then select the text in the boxes and set the text attributes using the Fonts and Colors windows and Inspector panes. This works in the same way as editing or changing any text on a slide; see Chapter 4 for more information on text attributes.

To customize title, body text, and slide number text boxes

1.
In the Master Slide Navigator, select the master slide that you want to change.

2.
Open the Master Slide Inspector.

3.
In the Layout section on the Appearance tab of the Master Slide Inspector, turn on (or off, depending on what you want) the Title, Body, or Slide Number options ( Figure 13.9 ).

Figure 13.9. The Layout section of the Master Slide Inspector lets you turn on or off the Title and Body, and Slide Number text boxes.

The title, body text, or slide number text boxes will appear (or not) on the master slide in the Slide Canvas.

4.
Resize and reposition the text boxes as needed on the master slide.

5.
Select the placeholder text in the text boxes, and format it using the Fonts and Colors windows and with the Text Inspector.

6.
(Optional) If you're setting attributes for bulleted text, set the tab positions for each of the bulleted text levels.

See Chapter 4 for more information on setting bullet tabs.

Tip

  • You can define the font attributes for up to five levels of bulleted text, and each level can be set differently, if you prefer ( Figure 13.10 ). You might consider giving custom bullet images to each level.

Figure 13.10. You can set the font attributes for each level of bulleted text separately, as shown here.
