Chapter 10. Working with Powerpoint Files

 < Day Day Up >

One of the great things about Keynote is that it does a very good job of reading and writing Microsoft PowerPoint files. For the most part, you should be able to take a PowerPoint file, open it in Keynote, and then modify it in Keynote or use it to give a presentation.

That's the theory, anyway. In the real world, you'll find that PowerPoint presentations opened in Keynote usually need a little tweaking before they are ready for prime time. In rare cases, you won't be able to open up a PowerPoint presentation in Keynote at all, at least until you modify the presentation a bit in PowerPoint.

In this chapter, you'll learn about the good and bad points of Keynote's PowerPoint compatibility, and you'll learn how to import PowerPoint files into Keynote and export Keynote files in PowerPoint format.
