For every troubleshooting process in this chapter, it is recommended that you start with the maximum information about the existing service. The minimum amount of information that you need to have before even starting to troubleshoot includes the characteristics of the service: point-to-point or point-to-multipoint design, routing or bridging, remote and local DLCIs, access rate (link rate), CIR value, IP addressing scheme, and so on. The chapter follows the recommended layer-by-layer troubleshooting process, including physical layer and data link layer problems, performance problems, PVC and LMI-related troubleshooting, and troubleshooting of traffic shaping and compression over Frame Relay. |
