In the first two cases, you generally don't have to check for potential problems or alter any settings. Due to the time and expense involved in sending files out to be commercially printed, however, it is recommended that you preflight any PDF documents intended for commercial printing. Preflighting is the process of checking your document for suitability with a particular printer or output process.
