7.10 Practical Implications

It is worthwhile watching how support for Windows Management Instrumentation is evolving from a recommended to a required status in Microsoft development kits and Microsoft logo requirements. This progression is consistent with past Microsoft practices in which features evolve from recommended to required status as the technology matures. [2]

[2] Yours truly will be watching closely because in a past life at Microsoft, I was the WMI program manager.

It is also worthwhile watching how vendors develop support for storage management standards and how well the products based on these standards interoperate .

The volume shadow copy service and virtual disk service represent possible significant opportunities for vendors to develop storage management applications that integrate very well with the Windows NT platform.
