Drawing Diagrams


If your job involves using Word to write procedures and create flowcharts, you ll love the diagramming feature in Word 2003. The built-in diagram tool enables you to create hierarchical diagrams in your document without ever leaving Word. Here are the steps:

  1. Choose Diagram from the Insert menu.

  2. In the Diagram Gallery (shown in Figure 6-2), click the type of chart you want to create. (If you re not sure which chart you need, click the different chart types to see a basic description of each.) After you ve selected the diagram you want, click OK.

  3. Click the prompt Click to add text to show you where to add your own information as needed.

  4. Use the tools on the Diagram toolbar to add shapes , move diagram elements, apply formatting settings, or change to a different type of diagram.

  5. Click outside the diagram to add it to your document.

Aha! ”Choosing Styles for Diagrams

The Diagram feature includes a Diagram Style Gallery that lets you change the look of the shapes and colors in the diagram. To display the Style Gallery, click AutoFormat on the Diagram toolbar. Scroll through the Diagram Style list to find the look you want; then click Apply to apply the change to the diagram.
