Optimizing HTML

In FrontPage 2003 you have to make sure your code is as tight as possible because it saves download and viewing time for your site visitors and ensures that your page appears as quickly as possible. To optimize your Web page before publishing, follow these steps:

  1. Display your Web page in Code view by clicking Code or Split view in the lower left corner of the FrontPage window.

  2. Choose Optimize HTML from the Tools menu.

  3. In the Optimize HTML dialog box, click the items you want to remove in the optimized code (see Figure 21-2). By default, adjacent tags, empty tags, and Word-generated HTML are all removed. You can also elect to remove comments, white space, and unused styles and auto-generated content.

  4. Click OK to save the changes, and FrontPage optimizes your code.
