The Office System uses the Office Clipboard to help you move data, pictures, paragraphs, charts , and more from one document to another. The Clipboard functions like a 3-D clipboard ”you take a document out of a file and put it on the Clipboard until you need it. When you re working with the file you want to add it to, you take it off the Clipboard and slip it in the file. You ll use two shortcut key combinations most often when you work with the Clipboard: Ctrl+C (for copying items) and Ctrl+V (for pasting). You ll also use Ctrl+X to cut (or remove) selected text, pictures, and objects from your documents.
For most tasks , you don t need to see what you ve placed on the Clipboard. But if you cut an item you think you might want, for example, or you can t remember whether you ve included an item or not, you can display the Clipboard contents by opening the Edit menu and choosing Office Clipboard. The Clipboard appears as a task pane and you can work with the items stored there as needed.
