Inserting Graphics for the Web

One of the great advantages of the Web wizards in FrontPage is that they take care of a lot of the design for you. But when you have your own images to import, how do you do it? Simple. Start in Design view, then choose Picture from the Insert menu. A drop-down list of choices appears. Here s what each of those choices does:

  • Clip Art Displays the Clip Organizer, so that you can choose a piece of clip art to include on the page or download clips from the Web.

  • From File Displays the Picture dialog box, so that you can navigate to the folder you want, and select the file you want to insert.

  • From Scanner Or Camera Displays the Insert Picture From Scanner Or Camera dialog box, so that you can begin scanning or downloading images from your scanner or camera.

  • New Photo Gallery Opens the Photo Gallery Properties dialog box, so that you can create and insert a collection of photos on your page.

  • New Drawing Displays the drawing tools, so that you can add your own art to the Web page.

  • AutoShapes Displays the AutoShapes palette, enabling you to add pre-drawn shapes on your site. AutoShapes are great for adding buttons quickly, or creating special design elements for your site.

  • WordArt A feature that allows you to do special things with text. To use WordArt, choose the option from the menu, and then select the style you want from the WordArt Gallery. In the Edit WordArt Text dialog box, type the text you want to add to the Web page, then click OK. The text item is placed as an object on your page, so that you can move it, resize it, or rotate it as needed.

  • Video Displays the Video dialog box, so that you can choose a video file you ve prepared for the Web.
