SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS An autonomic architecture is an enormous subject and cannot possibly be dealt with in one small chapter. As a starting point, we have presented in this chapter some high-level descriptions of the required architecture components. As with all new technology, the autonomic journey has only begun and will evolve and develop in the future. As we have identified, the basis of the autonomic architecture is the control loop, supplemented by decision-making components that monitor, analyze, plan, and execute using common knowledge and data collected. The value of autonomic computing will be seen in the combination of efficient process changes, skill evolution, and adoption of new technologies, new architectures, and open industry standards. The important topic of open standards is discussed in the next chapter. |
