Summary

In this chapter, you learned the basic theories behind networks, as well as how to create multiplayer games in Java using TCP. There is much to take in here, and it can be difficult to work out what is going on sometimes. The best way to learn is to experiment, so try making your own simple multiplayer game and you will be able to then fully grasp the idea of network programming. However, if you use the network framework that we have created as a base, implementing multiplayer capabilities in your games should be quite feasible. In the next chapter, we will delve into new I/O, which gives us the possibilty of creating non-blocking network code.
